Think Contra, a collection of online editorials and culture sites, including the fashion focused Hall of Style, recently relocated to New York City from their native Toronto, as the next step in expanding their networks. To kick off their exciting new chapter, they threw a summer bash with some of the city’s most influential sponsors.
“We were in Toronto for five years and hit a ceiling. Obviously, the next migration for anybody, anywhere, is New York,” says Trung Hoang, founder and creative director of Think Contra.
Think Contra partnered with Omen PR to organize the festivities, which were hosted at Root (Drive-In), one of the most spacious studios in Manhattan. The scene brought back childhood summers with snow cones, ping-pong tables, and even a dunk tank. To further nostalgia, DJ Becka Diamond mixed 80s tracks with sound equipment courtesy of Team Sennheiser USA. The event’s collaborative effort made clear, new-on-the-block Think Contra has already made a few New York friends, including another influential sponsor, Martini Media. The party’s amazing turnout only intensified Think Contra’s buzz. “We didn’t come here not knowing anybody, we had a bit of a foot hold,” shares Hoang.
