Fashion Q +A

A small group of bloggers and reporters gathered around famed author Jackie Collins, who was perched on a patent leather coach at the Hudson Hotel’s Library. She greeted the starry eyed group with a personal story, in a refined, but gentle English accent, “Live nude girls… What would [men] really have? Dead nude girls.” Humor and love for the taboo characterize Collins’ smart, yet cheeky novels.
Today's group was assembled to discuss Collins' hotly-anticipated book ‘Goddess of Vengeance’ already a bestseller in the UK and Australia. Lucky Santangelo, Collins’ most beloved and iconic heroine, returns living the highlife in Las Vegas, where she is managing, The Keys, a successful hotel and casino complex.
"Love. Beauty. Success. Lucky has everything her name implies. And as the force behind a high- profile casino and hotel complex, The Keys in Vegas, Lucky has exactly what billionaire businessman Armand Jordan is determined to take from her—and he’s not afraid to play dirty."
Collins' said the character Lucky is a reflection of the woman she is and aspires to be, 'successful, beautiful, and strong'. Gender equality is important to Collins, as she said, if she were not a writer, she would be a prosecutor for women’s rights. “Women need to have something in their life that is their own. A lot of women think, ‘I’m going to get married and he’ll look after me’, but it doesn’t work like that, and it shouldn’t,” said Collins
